Why we need to learn to walk again

When you’re learning to walk, it’s not the “invisible hand” but the outstretched arms that really matters!

It’s a matter of great joy and excitement when a child begins to take its first steps. With its gaze fixed firmly upon the eyes of the parent or guardian, the child makes its way toward the outstretched arms. It does not think, “how will I do this, I have never walked before.” Neither does the child consider any objects in its way, trusting the outstretched arms to clear the path of any obstacles.

Creative enterprise is often stifled by worry, fear (the negative kind), and anxiety for any number of reasons. But the goal here is to stay ever focused, trusting those outstretched arms to pluck our feet out whenever we get stuck and clear our path from any obstacles. It’s learning to walk again, and again, each day.

Consider,

All of us stumble, trip, and teeter-totter our way toward our goals, however big and audacious they may be. Creativity looks forward and stays focused on the outstretched arms. What would it take to return to this way of creativity?
