How to think like a bird

“There’s a worm out there somewhere…no hurry, no worry!” There’s a fine line between bird-brain thinking and right-brain living.

If you had one wish to make what would it be?

As creatives, among a range of choices, we’d pick the best tools and resources to use or even the most awesome people to work with. How about a steady and continuous flow of amazing thoughts and ideas—innovations that could well and truly make this world a better place, not to mention things for which people would willingly pay good money and be truly satisfied? Or, just plain and simple—enough money in the bank to live a decent life and be useful to others, to create-at-will and not to sell artworks in order to put food on the table!

In the end however, chances are that we’d still be prone to being lonely and needy. We’d still be left with the gaping hole that cries for attention and acknowledgment of our inmost creative beings through the willing recognition and genuine reception of our creative works. Only one thing can satisfy the creative soul, bird or not : think-likeness (i.e., togetherness) with the Creator.

Consider,

Amid all the noise and pandemonium of what’s required—to produce more and better, faster–let’s take a moment to center our creative soul on the knowledge that our creativity is neither defined nor driven primarily by what we produce. Rather, our value and worth as creatives is derived by whom we produce, the Creator of all. What might it look like for us to rest in that knowledge and create from that place of rest today?
