What’s a sign of a flourishing ecosystem? authenticity@work

Dangerous Beauty? A flourishing beehive is wonderful to behold, but it can be a dangerous thing! Photo by Boba Jaglicic on Unsplash. Thank you!

Which is easier to tell: when the heart is closed but the mouth makes lofty claims, or, when the mouth is closed but the heart is genuinely seeking to care?

Authenticity is not merely a matter of the heart and one’s intentions. Rather, authenticity is corroborated by evidence that matters.

Is the lion hungry due to natural circumstances, or because it cannot find food due to a depleted environment brought about by our human greed? What about our human environment, the places where we live and work and worship? Are we working together to carefully (strategically and systematically) cultivate a flourishing garden—a bountiful social ecosystem where all trust one another? Or, is what we say and do today going to create more wasteland, say one thing but do another?

Consider,

What is one thing we can do in our workplaces and homes today to evidence intentions of a heart that is compassionate? Maybe we could start with taking a moment to stop and to genuinely inquire of someone’s health or circumstance, actively looking for ways to be assist? Maybe it just starts with a smile that signals openness to dialogue and offer respect.

Or,

How does the picture of a thriving beehive relate to the notion of authenticity?
