Why innovate?

We innovate not in order to create something new, but it is because we are made anew in Christ–who is before all things created and by whom all things are created–that we create. Innovation is but a natural outpouring of all God’s creatures.

Why is this significant?

Because innovation, in the above sense, doesn’t begin with an attempt to gain anything–whether it is revenue, profit, market share, brand identity. Yes, we like to and want to gain some sort of return on investment. But this is only freely possible when we first make our return on the Creator’s investment in our lives.

Innovation begins with offering.

Not any offering, but right offering.

It is when we take ourselves seriously as the Creator takes us seriously, not as items to be discarded eventually, whenever that may be on our self-centered cosmic timelines. This is right offering.

Making an offering of ourselves to the Creator needn’t be too complicated.

What is a child’s offering to its mother or parent? Isn’t a deep gaze into each other’s — parent and child — enough? What is the ROI here? It is peace, rest, joy unspeakable, and promise in the sense of a hope for a better future.

As creators let’s take a moment to pause and make an offering of thanks and gratefulness. Our Creator is blessed and happy to look upon our offering of our bodies, minds, spirits–our whole beings–and bless us in return.
