How creative self-expression can work for a better world

The truth about creative self-expression–creator-light in me, creating the world creating through me…

It’s alright to write or speak of creativity as a principle, a philosophy, or a practice. But ultimately, it takes a person to either adhere, affirm, or simply, do these things. The point is this: the idea of creativity evidences a personality (e.g., character and traits) and a person-ability (the capacity or quality to be, the be-ing part) of a person. And therefore what we create or evidence in terms of a form of expression is indicative of a coherence with us, the creator—what I create is who I am, and by implication, who I am is evident in what I create.

Consider,

What we create today—thoughts, words, products etc.—does it bring light and joy into the lives of the people and world around us?

Let’s each one pray and ask for the courage to actually be the light that casts out all darkness and dispels fear in our own as well as the imaginations of people everywhere when they engage with our work. Let’s begin to pay careful attention to what we create and how it points to who we are. As long as we rest in gracious love, and invite others to do likewise, of whom shall we be afraid?
