Creativity seeking friendship

Friends made in the “valley” tend to be friends you can count on.

There are several reasons for why we find ourselves in the “valley of the shadow of death” but seldom are they completely unfounded.

As creatives we learn to become adept at navigating and negotiating suffering to the point of making it serve our larger creative purpose. Our artistic specialty is to help others to employ their faculties to reimagine scenarios and realities beyond this present suffering to something more beautiful and beyond the circumstances that plague human creativity. Indeed there is value to this creative invitation to others to share in our creativity.

A further step might be to communicate (invite others to share in) a posture of resilience as a framework for others to better understand and embrace the scenario of suffering in which they find themselves. Adopting a posture of fearlessness underscores such resilience. This is possible only because the journey on the road of resilience is not made alone but with the companion who knows every bit of that road. There are no surprises. Fear is overshadowed by a friendship that builds over time.

It’s a mutual give and take, as we share in the lives of others our creative expression is a compassionate invitation to others to share in solidarity of the collective journey. It is on this road that we learn to make friends with one another and thereby create with each other. Such creativity is every human’s birthright.

Consider,

Are we too focused on being so purpose-full that we forget about the people in our every day lives? Let’s build good and lasting friendships that build creative confidence. Let’s be open to being befriended by the compassionate creator.
