Even though we might hesitate to receive the glory for our achievements, the Creator is not bashful to demand recognition, awe, wonder, and even praise! As soon as we lift up our heads to the sunrise or ponder the patterns of a flower’s petals we are drawn to the mystery of Thanksgiving.
The point is that the invitation to Creator-praise is never demanded, it is not an imposition upon human sensibilities or capacities, but something by which we ourselves are renewed and strengthened.
The best of the Creator brings out the best of the creatures. Purity therefore is not a criterion for participation in Creator-wonder and Creator-glory; it is a posture for parsing human worth in terms of the Creator’s worth. It is a posture of privilege, to receive blessing and to pass it on to others.
Consider,
To share in thanksgiving is all about giving everything we’ve got without asking for anything in return, but rather trusting the goodness of the Creator to replenish our capacity for creativity, to posture and position ourselves for the privilege of praise. Happy…Blessed…Thanksgiving!
