“Sky’s The Limit”

Michael Hayden’s “Skys The Limit” art installation, Chicago O’Hare

An enduring characteristic of art is the way in which it transposes space and time, thought and action. Michael Hayden’s “Skys The Limit” reconfigures the experience of walking from one end to another of an 800 foot subterranean tunnel between United Airlines’ A and B concourses. The ability to reimagine space within Space and time within Time is to enter into god-like play. How might Creativity inspire you to reimagine your world today?

Let’s pray for those trapped in the Azovstal Steel Plant in the ongoing war in Ukraine today—families, children—hearing the sound of incessant shelling; that they would not be robbed of their capacity to reimagine the world as it should be and ought to be.

Let’s remember and thank God for the gift of freedom we often take for granted.

Let’s repent for the destruction and lack of stewardship of the good things, the land, the air, the water entrusted to us as contexts from which to create, reimagine, and experience the Creator’s goodness.

How long until cities shall again overflow with prosperity?
How long until anger abates and compassion prevails?
Until then, let us speak gracious and comforting words
Until the jealousy (love?) of God restores our lands, skies, waters
How long until we will be chosen again, despite our mistakes and wilful rejection of whatever is beautiful, true, and pure?
