Saturday Surrender

A lion in its thicket. A failed hunt? Rejected. Wounded? Will this creative ever hunt again?
We regain perspective and strength for creative witness in the inmost darkest recesses of the cave; outside light is not permitted. But here in Rest, the inner light heals, revives, before we emerge again.
Darkness can be discomforting, if we are constantly looking for light. But once we learn to relax and let go, we begin to learn to see things afresh in the darkness. We are invited to make use of the god-given creative instincts, not merely to survive but to rely on such and become accustomed to this way of knowledge for life.
It seems as if each one of us must learn to find that privileged space of darkness, in order for each one’s unique light within to shine. It takes courage. And if you are there, you are not alone. But shine it (light) must and brightly so, before we begin to journey back to the mouth of the cave and emerge into the broad daylight. Once outside it can sometimes be hard to tell your own light from that of others. When that begins to happen we know that we must retreat back into the cave, or at least allow our spirits to recall that time of deep darkness, reliving our baptism again when we received that charge to keep the flame.
Yes, ours is not to reinvent light again, but to keep the flame and the charge to fan such flame so that others might see the light and receive sight and healing, again.
Let darkness have its way. It can never overcome the light within. If the light we shine forth is being overcome by darkness then we know that it is not the true light. Let it go. Stillness and silence are fuel for igniting the light within. This light never goes out and will help you shine again.
